DESCRIPTION

Climb Global Solutions is a value-added IT distributor, sitting in the middle of the IT supply chain between software vendors and OEMs on one side, and resellers (VARs, system integrators, government resellers) on the other. Climb's core focus is on emerging and disruptive technologies, particularly cybersecurity (over 60% of the portfolio), virtualization, cloud, networking, storage, and infrastructure management. Key vendor partners include Sophos, SolarWinds, Darktrace, Fortinet, and Adobe. Climb deliberately maintains a curated, focused vendor line card rather than the broadest possible catalog. Climb operates primarily under the "Climb Channel Solutions" brand, with a smaller direct-to-end-user business under the "Grey Matter" brand in the UK. Geographically, the business is predominantly North America, with a growing European presence. Climb makes money on the spread between what it pays vendors and what it charges resellers, with gross margins on gross billings running around 5%. The model is largely capital-light — most products are digital licenses or drop-shipped — and roughly 80–90% of revenue is recurring via annual software maintenance and subscription renewals. Climb grows organically by adding new vendor relationships and expanding its reseller base, and through acquisitions targeting European distributors and companies that add vendor relationships or technical capabilities. Management suspended its quarterly dividend in Q1 2026 to free up capital for an accelerated M&A program, targeting deals in the $10–40M range.
