DESCRIPTION

ResMed makes medical devices and software for sleep apnea and other chronic respiratory conditions. The core product is a CPAP machine, which delivers pressurized air through a mask to keep a patient's airway open during sleep. ResMed's flagship device platform is the AirSense series (AirSense 10 and AirSense 11), which includes CPAP and auto-adjusting devices. ResMed also makes bilevel devices (the AirCurve series) for more complex conditions like COPD. All devices are cloud-connected, uploading patient data to ResMed's AirView platform for remote monitoring by clinicians. Masks and accessories — including nasal, full-face, and minimalist systems — are a critical recurring revenue stream, since CPAP is a lifelong treatment requiring regular replacement of masks, cushions, and tubing. ResMed sells primarily through home medical equipment providers in the U.S., and through a mix of direct sales, distributors, and its own home healthcare operations internationally. ResMed reports two segments: Sleep and Breathing Health (~88% of revenue), covering devices, masks, and accessories; and Residential Care Software (~12%), which sells SaaS platforms — Brightree, MatrixCare, HEALTHCAREfirst, and MEDIFOX DAN — to HME providers, home health agencies, and senior living facilities. ResMed's growth strategy focuses on expanding the diagnosed patient population (fewer than 20% of OSA sufferers are diagnosed in the U.S.), leveraging GLP-1 drug and consumer wearable tailwinds to drive new diagnoses, and integrating AI into its patient engagement and resupply tools.
