Republic Bancorp is a Louisville, Kentucky-based bank holding company operating through its subsidiary, Republic Bank & Trust. Republic runs two distinct businesses: a regional community bank (Core Banking) and a set of specialty national financial services businesses (Republic Processing Group, or RPG). The Core Banking segment includes Traditional Banking — commercial real estate, C&I, residential mortgage, and specialty lending like aircraft loans, plus treasury management and private banking — served through 47 branches across Kentucky, Indiana, Florida, Tennessee, and Ohio. Core Banking also includes a Warehouse Lending business that provides short-term revolving credit lines to mortgage bankers nationwide, secured by single-family mortgages. RPG comprises three businesses: Tax Refund Solutions (TRS), which partners with third-party tax preparers to offer refund advances and transfer products to U.S. taxpayers; Republic Payment Solutions (RPS), which issues prepaid and debit cards and provides money movement services targeting underbanked consumers; and Republic Credit Solutions (RCS), which originates small-dollar unsecured loans to subprime and near-prime borrowers through third-party partners, selling 90–95% of each loan shortly after funding. Core Banking earns primarily net interest income, while RPG businesses are more fee-driven. TRS is a seasonal business concentrated in the first half of each year, and the expiration of Republic's largest Tax Provider contract in late 2025 is expected to materially shrink TRS going forward.
