DESCRIPTION

Integra LifeSciences is a medical technology company that makes and sells specialized surgical products, primarily across two areas: neurosurgery and wound reconstruction. In neurosurgery (roughly 70% of revenue, under the Codman Specialty Surgical segment), Integra sells products spanning the full surgical care pathway — including ultrasonic surgical aspirators, intracranial pressure monitors, cerebrospinal fluid management systems, dural repair products, cranial stabilization systems, and ENT surgical tools acquired through the Acclarent acquisition. In wound reconstruction (roughly 30% of revenue, under the Tissue Technologies segment), Integra is a pioneer in regenerative medicine and sells collagen-based biological scaffolds for severe burns, complex wounds, diabetic ulcers, and soft tissue repair. Integra also runs a smaller private label contract manufacturing business within this segment. Integra sells primarily through a direct sales force to hospitals, surgical centers, and wound care clinics, with revenue driven by procedure volumes, product pricing, and adoption in clinical settings. The neurosurgery business combines capital equipment sales — which build an installed base that drives recurring disposable revenue — with steadier instruments revenue. The wound reconstruction business is almost entirely consumable. Integra is currently focused on recovering from manufacturing quality issues that forced it to pull key products from the market, and is executing a multi-year compliance and remediation program across its 14 facilities. Key near-term catalysts include the relaunch of SurgiMend and PriMatrix, PMA approvals for implant-based breast reconstruction, and international expansion, particularly in China.
