DESCRIPTION

Gentherm designs and manufactures thermal and pneumatic comfort systems for vehicle seats and interiors, sold primarily to Tier 1 seat suppliers like Lear and Adient on behalf of global automakers. The core product is the Climate Control Seat (CCS), which heats, ventilates, or actively cools occupants through resistive heating elements and air-moving devices integrated into the seat. Gentherm also makes heated steering wheels, heated door panels, and lumbar and massage comfort solutions that use pneumatic air bladders and proprietary shape memory alloy valves. Gentherm works directly with OEMs at the product planning stage to secure platform awards before Tier 1 suppliers are selected, giving it a durable competitive position across program lifecycles that typically run five to ten years. Revenue is tied to vehicle production volumes and content per vehicle, so Gentherm grows by winning new platforms, expanding its product bundle on existing ones, and benefiting as heated and massage features penetrate non-luxury vehicles. Volkswagen and GM are the two largest end OEMs, each contributing 12% of product revenues. Gentherm also operates a small Medical segment selling patient temperature management systems to hospitals. The lumbar and massage business is the fastest-growing product line, and Gentherm is expanding into adjacent markets including commercial vehicles, powersports, and home and office furniture. In January 2026, Gentherm announced a deal to combine with Modine's Performance Technologies business, which serves thermal management needs in commercial vehicles, heavy equipment, and data centers.
