DESCRIPTION

AZZ is North America's largest independent provider of metal coating services, operating two segments: Metal Coatings (hot-dip galvanizing) and Precoat Metals (coil coating). In hot-dip galvanizing, AZZ dips fabricated steel into molten zinc at one of its 42 plants across the U.S. and Canada, creating a corrosion-resistant coating for use in infrastructure, construction, solar, data centers, and industrial applications. In coil coating, AZZ applies protective and decorative coatings to steel and aluminum coils at 14 U.S. plants before customers cut and form the material into finished products like roofing panels, appliances, HVAC equipment, and food and beverage containers. Both businesses operate on a "tolling" model — AZZ processes metal owned by its customers and charges a service fee, rather than buying or selling metal itself, which insulates AZZ from commodity price swings. Revenue is driven by volume and pricing, with key input costs like zinc and paint largely passed through to customers. AZZ's growth strategy combines organic volume growth from infrastructure spending, energy transition, data center construction, and aluminum packaging demand, with inorganic bolt-on acquisitions to expand its geographic network. AZZ also holds a 40% stake in AVAIL Infrastructure Solutions, now primarily an industrial lighting business, though this is a minor contributor. AZZ's proprietary technology platforms — the Digital Galvanizing System and Coil Zone — improve efficiency and deepen customer relationships across both segments.
