DESCRIPTION

Servotronics designs and manufactures precision servo-control valves — torque motors, hydraulic valves, and pneumatic valves — used to control mechanical motion in aerospace, defense, medical, and industrial applications. Servotronics sells primarily to commercial aviation OEMs, defense contractors, and government subcontractors, under long-term contracts with a concentrated customer base. Products are custom-engineered to specific customer requirements, which means they tend to be deeply embedded in a given aircraft or defense platform. Once a Servotronics component is designed into a program, it is difficult and expensive for customers to replace, creating meaningful switching costs and incumbency advantages. The business model involves upfront engineering investment to develop custom solutions, followed by contract-based revenue driven by delivery volumes and pricing. Servotronics is also pursuing expansion into aftermarket Repair & Overhaul services and energy and industrial markets, which could add recurring service-based revenue over time. The company divested its consumer cutlery segment in 2023 and is now a pure-play advanced components business focused on aerospace and defense.
