DESCRIPTION

Acorn Energy is a holding company that operates entirely through its subsidiary OmniMetrix, a Georgia-based provider of wireless remote monitoring and control systems for critical infrastructure assets. OmniMetrix's core business — roughly 90% of revenue — is remote monitoring for standby backup generators. OmniMetrix sells hardware devices that connect to generator control panels across all major brands, collecting operational data that allows technicians and owners to diagnose and predict failures remotely. OmniMetrix argues that with proper monitoring, 95% of generator failures can be avoided. Customers include commercial and industrial end users such as cell towers, data centers, hospitals, and military facilities, as well as residential homeowners. OmniMetrix goes to market through a network of over 600 generator dealers and a direct sales force targeting large accounts. The remaining ~10% of revenue comes from remote monitoring of cathodic protection systems on natural gas pipelines, which reduce corrosion and allow pipeline operators to avoid costly manual field inspections. OmniMetrix's business model combines one-time hardware sales with recurring annual monitoring subscriptions. After the first year, customers renew at rates above 90%, building a growing base of high-margin recurring revenue. The cost structure is largely fixed — OmniMetrix has only 27 employees — so incremental revenue converts to operating income at a high rate. Management targets 20% average annual revenue growth over 3 to 5 years, pursuing large C&I direct sales, OEM partnerships, dealer network expansion, new product launches, and M&A.
