DESCRIPTION

CRH is the largest building materials company in North America and a leading provider in Europe and Australia. Its core products are aggregates (crushed stone, sand, and gravel), cement, asphalt, and readymixed concrete — essential inputs for roads, bridges, water systems, data centers, and other construction activity. CRH also provides road paving services and value-added building products including precast concrete pipes, drainage systems, and outdoor living products. CRH operates through three segments: Americas Materials Solutions (aggregates, cement, asphalt, and paving services), Americas Building Solutions (engineered infrastructure and residential products), and International Solutions (building materials across 27 countries in Europe and Australia). CRH's business model emphasizes vertical integration — aggregates feed into asphalt and cement, which feed into paving and finished infrastructure products — allowing CRH to capture margin at multiple steps of the value chain. CRH sells through approximately 4,000 local operating locations to governments, contractors, homebuilders, and retailers. Growth is driven by acquisitions (30-40 bolt-on deals per year in a fragmented industry), pricing discipline, and exposure to multi-decade infrastructure tailwinds including U.S. transportation spending under the IIJA, water infrastructure replacement, and data center construction. CRH has completed over 1,250 acquisitions historically, and targets deploying roughly $40B in capital over 2025-2030, weighted toward M&A and growth capex, with the remainder toward share buybacks and dividends.
