TETRA Technologies is an energy services and chemicals company with two core businesses: completion fluids for offshore oil and gas wells, and water management services for onshore operations. The Completion Fluids & Products segment manufactures clear brine fluids — dense salt solutions used to control wellbore pressure during offshore completions — including its flagship TETRA CS Neptune product designed for ultra-deepwater, high-pressure wells. This segment also sells liquid and dry calcium chloride into industrial markets such as road maintenance, ice melt, and food processing, and produces zinc bromide and other bromide-based chemicals. The Water & Flowback Services segment provides onshore operators with produced water treatment, recycling, transfer, and storage, as well as frac flowback, production well testing, and sand management using TETRA's automated SandStorm equipment. TETRA sells completion fluids directly to oil and gas producers and large oilfield services companies; water services are sold directly to onshore operators. The fluids business carries significantly higher margins than water services and drives the bulk of TETRA's profits. TETRA is pursuing three growth initiatives: building a bromine processing facility in Arkansas on its own brine leases, supplying ultra-pure zinc bromide to the zinc-bromine battery energy storage market as the only known U.S. manufacturer at scale, and developing produced water desalination technology targeting commercial deployment in the Permian Basin by 2026.
