DESCRIPTION

George Risk Industries (GRI) is a small U.S. manufacturer of security alarm components. GRI's core product line includes reed switches, door and window contacts, and related security hardware used by residential and commercial alarm installers. This security division accounts for roughly 96% of GRI's revenue. GRI also makes custom keyboards and proximity switches sold to OEMs and distributors, though this is a small part of the business. GRI sells through distributors and alarm dealers rather than directly to end users, and its customer base is highly concentrated: Ademco (ADI) accounts for roughly 39% of security division sales and Anixter accounts for another 22%, so these two distributors together drive the majority of GRI's revenue. GRI's value proposition in security components is competitive pricing, customization, and domestic manufacturing. In keyboards and proximity switches, GRI focuses on small custom orders that larger competitors decline. Customers bear R&D costs for custom product development, which limits GRI's own development spend and reduces financial risk on new products.
