DESCRIPTION

Stock Yards Bancorp is a Louisville, Kentucky-based community bank holding company. Its sole operating subsidiary, Stock Yards Bank & Trust, was founded in 1904 and operates 75 full-service banking locations across Louisville and surrounding Kentucky markets, as well as Indianapolis and Cincinnati. Like most banks, Stock Yards Bancorp earns the majority of its revenue through net interest income — the spread between what it earns on loans and investments and what it pays on deposits. The remaining revenue comes from fee-based income, including deposit service charges, treasury management fees, mortgage banking, and brokerage commissions. A notable differentiator is the bank's Wealth Management & Trust division, which provides investment management, financial and retirement planning, trust and estate services, and retirement plan management for businesses. This division is the largest source of non-interest income and is large relative to the bank's overall size compared to peers. Stock Yards Bancorp grows through a combination of organic branch expansion and M&A, with recent acquisitions including Kentucky Bancshares and Commonwealth Bancshares expanding its Kentucky footprint.
