Champions Oncology is a contract research organization (CRO) focused exclusively on oncology drug development. Its core asset is a bank of roughly 1,500 Patient Derived Xenograft (PDX) models — actual patient tumors implanted and grown in mice — which pharma and biotech companies use to test experimental cancer drugs before human trials. Customers send Champions their drug compounds, and Champions runs studies testing those drugs against a panel of tumor models to help customers understand which cancer subtypes respond and which genetic markers predict sensitivity or resistance. Champions sells these research services directly through a dedicated sales force, targeting pharma and biotech companies across North America, Europe, and Asia.
