Biomerica is a small medical diagnostics company that develops and sells diagnostic test kits used to detect diseases, infections, food intolerances, and other conditions. Test kits analyze blood, urine, nasal, or fecal samples and are designed to deliver quick results without complex lab equipment. Biomerica sells to clinical laboratories, point-of-care settings, and over-the-counter channels through roughly 76 customers globally, including about 38 independent distributors across approximately 30 countries. Biomerica's existing product portfolio includes EZ Detect (a home colon disease test), an ACTH test for chronic metabolic conditions, and other established diagnostic kits. Growth is tied almost entirely to two newer products: inFoods IBS, a blood test that identifies specific foods triggering a patient's IBS symptoms to allow targeted dietary elimination, sold through GI physician groups; and hp+detect, an FDA-cleared blood test for H. pylori bacteria. Biomerica is pursuing insurance reimbursement for inFoods IBS through a CLIA lab partner and is in discussions with large laboratories for hp+detect adoption. Beyond direct sales, Biomerica is actively exploring out-licensing both products to larger life sciences companies, meaning commercial upside may come from licensing fees or partnership arrangements. The inFoods technology platform has patents filed across additional disease states including Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, migraine, and depression, positioning Biomerica for further product development or licensing deals. Biomerica manufactures at its Irvine, California headquarters and a Mexicali, Mexico facility, and operates with 54 employees.
