DESCRIPTION

Distribution Solutions Group (DSG) is a specialty industrial distribution holding company built around three core businesses: Lawson Products, TestEquity, and Gexpro Services. Lawson Products distributes MRO products — fasteners, fluid power components, electrical supplies, cutting tools, and specialty chemicals — to small and mid-sized industrial customers, primarily automotive repair shops and manufacturing plants. Lawson uses a field sales force of roughly 930 reps who manage on-site vendor-managed inventory (VMI) bins, essentially taking over customers' inventory management for low-cost, high-frequency consumables (C-parts). TestEquity distributes test and measurement equipment and electronic production supplies to engineers and manufacturers in aerospace & defense, electronics, medical, and semiconductor industries, and also offers equipment rental, calibration, and refurbishment services. Gexpro Services embeds itself into OEM manufacturers' production lines, managing the flow of C-parts through VMI, kitting, global sourcing, and logistics across 35+ locations in 13 countries. DSG also runs a Canada Branch Division, distributing industrial MRO and safety products through 35 branch locations. Across all segments, DSG's model centers on sourcing products in bulk and reselling at a markup, with VMI services creating switching costs and driving recurring revenue. DSG pursues growth through two channels: organically, primarily by expanding Lawson's sales force and improving rep productivity; and through M&A, having deployed roughly $450M across 9 acquisitions since its 2022 formation.
