DESCRIPTION

Louisiana-Pacific (LP) manufactures and sells engineered wood building products, primarily LP SmartSide exterior siding and OSB structural panels. LP operates more than 20 manufacturing facilities across North and South America and is headquartered in Nashville, Tennessee. The Siding segment (~62% of net sales) sells SmartSide-branded engineered wood siding, trim, soffit, and fascia through wholesale distributors, building materials dealers, and retail home centers into new home construction, repair and remodeling, and off-site structures like sheds and manufactured housing. SmartSide is positioned as a premium, durable alternative to vinyl, fiber cement, and solid wood siding. The OSB segment (~31% of net sales) sells commodity structural panels used as roof decking, wall sheathing, and floor underlayment, plus a value-added portfolio called LP Structural Solutions with specialty features. LP's top ten customers account for roughly 47% of net sales. Siding is a branded, specialty business where LP raises prices annually and grows revenue through volume gains and material conversion from vinyl and fiber cement. Margins expand through operating leverage as mills approach full utilization. OSB is a commodity business with no pricing power, and profitability swings with industry supply and demand. LP's growth strategy focuses on Siding: converting homes from vinyl siding, expanding into the R&R market via its pre-finished ExpertFinish line, penetrating large national homebuilders, and adding Siding capacity — including by converting OSB mills to Siding production.
