DESCRIPTION

Huntington Bancshares is a regional bank holding company headquartered in Columbus, Ohio, operating through its subsidiary Huntington National Bank. Huntington provides traditional banking services — deposits, loans, payments, wealth management, and capital markets — to consumers and businesses primarily across the Midwest, with growing exposure to Sun Belt markets. The company operates two segments: Consumer & Regional Banking, which covers branch banking, indirect auto and recreational vehicle lending through dealership relationships, small business banking, and wealth management; and Commercial Banking, which serves mid-market to large corporate clients across specialty verticals including healthcare, technology, financial sponsors, and equipment finance, where Huntington is the fifth-largest lender in the U.S. Huntington's core revenue driver is net interest income — the spread between loan and securities yields and deposit funding costs. Fee income from payments, wealth management, and capital markets rounds out the revenue mix and has been growing at a high-single-digit pace. Huntington's growth strategy focuses on geographic expansion into Texas and the Carolinas, adding commercial specialty verticals, and investing in fee businesses. Huntington has recently accelerated Sun Belt expansion through two acquisitions: Veritex ($12B in assets) and Cadence Bank (~$54B in assets). Huntington argues it is differentiated by delivering large-bank product capabilities through local relationship bankers, and by consumer-friendly products that drive primary banking relationships and low-cost deposit funding.
