DESCRIPTION

General Dynamics is a defense and aerospace conglomerate operating across four segments: Marine Systems, Technologies, Aerospace, and Combat Systems. Marine Systems is the largest segment and builds nuclear-powered submarines and guided-missile destroyers for the U.S. Navy — General Dynamics' Electric Boat is the sole builder of both the Virginia-class attack submarine and the Columbia-class ballistic-missile submarine. These programs run under long-term, fixed-price government contracts, with a backlog extending well into the 2030s. The Aerospace segment centers on Gulfstream, which designs and manufactures large-cabin, long-range business jets sold directly to corporations and high-net-worth individuals globally. Gulfstream's current lineup spans the G500, G600, G700, G800, and forthcoming G400 and G300 — all clean-sheet designs that carry lower margins early in production but are expected to expand margins as they mature down the learning curve. Gulfstream and Jet Aviation also provide aircraft services including MRO, completions, FBOs, and aircraft management. The Combat Systems segment produces land combat vehicles including the Abrams tank and Stryker for the U.S. Army, plus munitions, with a growing international presence through European Land Systems. The Technologies segment operates two businesses: GDIT, which provides IT, cloud, and cybersecurity services to federal agencies, and Mission Systems, which produces defense electronics, encryption systems, and unmanned platforms. General Dynamics ended FY25 with a record $118B backlog, providing multi-year revenue visibility across its defense businesses.
