SEI Investments provides financial technology, operations outsourcing, and asset management to financial institutions — banks, trust companies, RIAs, asset managers, and pension funds. SEI does not serve individual investors directly. The company generates roughly 57% of revenue from technology and outsourcing and 38% from asset management fees. The flagship product is the SEI Wealth Platform (SWP), a fully integrated platform covering investment processing, custody, fund administration, and reporting, delivered as either SaaS or PaaS. SEI also operates TRUST 3000, a legacy predecessor platform still used by some bank clients. On the asset management side, SEI offers model portfolios, ETFs, SMAs, CITs, and alternative products. SEI also owns approximately 38.5% of LSV Asset Management, a value-equity manager that contributes earnings and performance fees. SEI operates through four segments: Investment Managers (fund administration and middle-office outsourcing to alternative and traditional managers), Private Banks (wealth management technology and operations for bank trust departments), Investment Advisors (integrated custody, technology, and investment management for RIAs and broker-dealers), and Institutional Investors (OCIO services for pensions, endowments, and foundations). Revenue is primarily asset-based fees and recurring platform fees tied to long-term contracts of three to seven years. The cost structure is largely fixed, so market appreciation and new client wins generate high incremental margins. In December 2025, SEI acquired a 57.5% stake in Stratos Wealth Holdings, marking SEI's first direct entry into advice delivery.
