DESCRIPTION

Dana makes drivetrain and thermal management components for on-highway vehicles. Its core products include axles, driveshafts, and transmissions that transfer power from the engine to the wheels, as well as electrification products (e-axles, e-transmissions, inverters, electric motors) and sealing and cooling systems for both ICE and electric powertrains. Dana sells directly to vehicle OEMs on a program-by-program basis, with revenue driven by production volumes on the specific platforms Dana is designed into. Dana operates through two segments: Light Vehicle Drive Systems (~70% of revenue), serving manufacturers of light trucks, SUVs, and crossovers, and Commercial Vehicle Drive and Motion Systems (~30%), serving medium- and heavy-duty truck and bus OEMs, plus an aftermarket business. Dana's business is highly concentrated — Ford alone accounts for ~32% of sales, with the Super Duty pickup as a flagship program, and the top 10 customers account for ~76% of sales. Dana recently sold its Off-Highway segment (construction, mining, and ag vehicles) to Allison Transmission for ~$2.7B, narrowing its focus entirely to on-highway vehicles and using proceeds to repay ~$1.9B in debt. Dana also executed a $325M annualized cost reduction program, primarily headcount and engineering cuts tied partly to scaling back EV investment as adoption slowed. Dana's 2030 plan targets ~$10B in revenue and 14-15% adjusted EBITDA margins through aftermarket expansion, new ICE and hybrid program wins, commercial vehicle volume recovery, and manufacturing automation.
