DESCRIPTION

Yesil Global Enerji (YGE) is a Turkish waste-to-energy company that captures methane gas from municipal solid waste landfills and converts it into electricity. YGE was the first company in Turkiye to generate electricity from landfill gas, entering the market in 2007. YGE currently operates six landfill gas-to-energy plants in Istanbul and Kocaeli, with total installed capacity of approximately 125.86 MWe. YGE holds exclusive rights to collect and use landfill gas from two municipal operators — ISTAC and IZAYDAS — in exchange for a revenue share of 11.1% to 40% depending on the site. Electricity is sold primarily through EPIAS, Turkiye's national electricity market, under the YEKDEM feed-in tariff program, which guarantees a fixed price of $0.133/kWh for 10 years and is denominated in USD — providing a natural hedge against Turkish lira depreciation. YGE also generates carbon credits from its methane capture operations, producing approximately 2 million metric tons of verified credits annually, recognized as revenue following three-year monitoring cycles. Beyond its core operations, YGE is constructing a thermal waste disposal and energy generation facility in Kocaeli through its subsidiary Korfez Enerji, expected to commission in early 2026 with a licensed capacity of 41.32 MWe. YGE also holds early-stage geothermal interests and recently formed a U.S. subsidiary with plans to use natural gas from Texas oil and gas leaseholds to power cryptocurrency mining operations, though this business has no operating history.
