DESCRIPTION

Rank One Computing (ROC) builds AI software for visual identification, surveillance, and digital forensics. ROC's core product line covers three areas: biometric identity (facial recognition, fingerprint matching, and iris recognition), video analytics (real-time and post-event analysis of video feeds for threat detection and situational awareness), and digital forensics tools that help law enforcement search and analyze visual evidence. ROC's customers are primarily U.S. government and law enforcement agencies, including Department of Defense components, as well as state and local police departments. ROC also sells internationally into the Middle East and Asia-Pacific, and is expanding into commercial sectors like financial services and physical security. ROC sells through direct government sales and through systems integrators who embed ROC's technology into larger deployments. The core product is the ROC SDK, a library of biometric and computer vision algorithms that integrators embed into their own systems. ROC also sells ROC ABIS, an enterprise biometric identification system for law enforcement; ROC Watch, a video analytics platform; and ROC Enroll, a remote identity verification solution. ROC licenses its software both as embedded SDK components and as deployed applications. Revenue has historically been lumpy and non-recurring, and ROC is working to shift toward larger multi-year contracts and SaaS arrangements. ROC argues it is differentiated by algorithmic efficiency, which allows deployment on existing infrastructure at lower cost, and by its position as a domestically developed alternative to foreign-built systems that dominate U.S. government programs.
