DESCRIPTION

NielsenIQ (NIQ) is a global consumer intelligence company that sells data, analytics, and software to consumer brands, retailers, and other organizations. NIQ's core product helps clients understand what consumers are buying, where, and why — information clients use to set prices, plan promotions, allocate ad budgets, manage trade spend, launch products, and measure market share. NIQ collects data from point-of-sale feeds from over 8,900 retailers across 88 countries, consumer panels with more than 5.5 million participants, e-receipt data, eCommerce platform partnerships, and over 12,000 field auditors in developing markets. This data is processed using AI and delivered through NIQ's Discover software platform. NIQ operates through two product lines: Intelligence (~81% of revenue), which measures what sold, where, and at what price, and Activation (~19% of revenue), which covers analytics products focused on the "why" behind consumer behavior, including concept testing, marketing mix modeling, and pricing optimization. Intelligence is sold primarily through multi-year subscription contracts with built-in price escalators, making revenue highly predictable. Activation is largely a cross-sell to Intelligence clients. NIQ's cost base is roughly 80% fixed, which creates operating leverage as revenue scales. NIQ went public on the NYSE in July 2025. Key growth levers include eCommerce upsell, consumer panel expansion, Activation cross-sell into its existing client base, SMB market penetration, and expansion into adjacent verticals like financial services, healthcare, and media.
