Mount Logan Capital is an alternative asset management and insurance solutions company with two integrated business segments. In asset management, Mount Logan manages private credit strategies — including senior secured lending, asset-based and specialty finance, structured credit, and venture lending — across BDCs, interval funds, insurance accounts, and SMAs. Total AUM exceeds $2.1B, of which roughly $1.5B is permanent or semi-permanent capital. In insurance solutions, Mount Logan operates through its subsidiary Ability Insurance Company, which reinsures annuity products — primarily multi-year guaranteed annuities (MYGAs) — by entering quota-share coinsurance agreements with primary insurers, earning spread income on the assets backing those liabilities. ML Management then manages Ability's investment portfolio, creating a flywheel between the two segments: capital invested in Ability grows its reinsurance book, which in turn grows AUM and management fees. The asset management segment earns Fee Related Earnings (FRE) from management and servicing fees, while insurance earns Spread Related Earnings (SRE) from the net investment spread between asset yields and policyholder crediting rates, targeting 75-100 bps annually. Mount Logan has no direct employees and relies on BC Partners Advisors for investment and operational staffing. Growth priorities include scaling Ability's capital base to assume more reinsurance, growing AUM through new vehicles and acquisitions, and broadening distribution. Mount Logan completed a Nasdaq listing in September 2025 via merger with 180 Degree Capital, which management views as a key enabler for M&A and capital markets access.
