DESCRIPTION

SIM IP is an early-stage IP asset management and monetization company. The company sources undervalued or underutilized patents and seeks to generate returns by licensing those patents, enforcing patent rights through litigation, or financing others' patent litigation in exchange for a share of recoveries. SIM IP was formed through a reorganization combining Spectral IP (a shell subsidiary of Spectral AI) with Sauvegarder Investment Management, a company founded by IP veteran Erich Spangenberg. SIM IP has generated no revenue since inception. The core near-term business lines are IP licensing and IP litigation investment. On the licensing side, SIM IP acts as an exclusive licensing agent for patent owners on a success-fee basis, or acquires patents outright and licenses them to companies using the technology. On the litigation investment side, SIM IP advances capital to fund patent enforcement campaigns in exchange for a share of damages or settlement proceeds, and argues it differentiates itself from passive litigation finance firms by actively participating in case strategy. Future planned verticals include structured IP finance, royalty stream acquisitions, and opportunistic copyright and distressed IP situations. The business model is capital-intensive and binary — individual cases can take years and may result in total loss of invested capital, and revenue is expected to be large and episodic rather than recurring. Current portfolio activity includes a €4.0M commitment to fund European patent enforcement, a $4.0M acquisition of cloud and networking patents, and a pending $30M acquisition of haptics and extended reality patents that will require additional capital beyond IPO proceeds to close.
