DESCRIPTION

Ategrity Specialty Insurance is a specialty property and casualty insurer focused exclusively on the excess and surplus (E&S) market for small and medium-sized businesses in the U.S. E&S insurance covers risks that standard admitted insurers won't underwrite — typically too complex or unusual to price under standard forms and rates — and E&S carriers like Ategrity operate with greater regulatory flexibility on rates and policy forms as a result. Ategrity targets SMBs in verticals like retail, real estate, hospitality, and construction, with a portfolio that is roughly two-thirds casualty and one-third property, skewed toward lower-severity, attritional risks rather than large catastrophe-exposed accounts. Ategrity distributes exclusively through licensed surplus lines brokers and wholesale agents, working with nearly 600 distribution partners. Ategrity earns premiums by underwriting commercial P&C policies across two channels: a Brokerage channel for medium-sized risks, where underwriters are assisted by automation, and a Small Business channel for smaller, more standardized risks handled through a fully automated quoting process. Ategrity purchases reinsurance to manage exposure, including a quota share arrangement with a Bermuda affiliate, which it has been gradually reducing to retain more net premium. Ategrity's "productionized underwriting" platform, AtegrityOne, standardizes and automates submission intake, pricing, and policy documentation, and the company plans to further embed AI directly into underwriting workflows to drive expense efficiency.
