DESCRIPTION

Basel Medical is a small Singapore-based private healthcare group focused on orthopedic specialty care, with a newer general practice arm. The company operates two orthopedic specialist clinics at Gleneagles Medical Centre, where four specialist doctors — orthopedic surgeons and a neurosurgeon — treat patients for conditions including joint pain, sports injuries, spinal disorders, and trauma. Major surgeries are performed at affiliated private hospitals where the doctors hold practicing privileges, while consultations and minor procedures occur at Basel Medical's own clinics. In April 2025, Basel Medical acquired Bethesda Medical, adding six GP clinics staffed by 10 general practitioners across several Singapore neighborhoods. Specialist clinics generated roughly 92% of FY25 revenue, with Bethesda contributing the remainder after just two months of ownership. Basel Medical earns fees for consultations, procedures, surgeries, medications, and orthopedic implants and devices. Patient volume flows through three channels: individual walk-ins, corporate referrals from companies in construction, marine, and oil & gas, and insurer panels — Basel Medical has arrangements with over 20 insurers and 300 corporations. Revenue is driven by patient volume, case mix (surgical procedures carry significantly higher fees than outpatient visits), and the specialist-versus-GP blend. Basel Medical's growth strategy centers on using the Bethesda GP network as a referral feeder to its higher-margin orthopedic specialists, opening new specialist clinics in additional Singapore districts, and eventually expanding into new specialties and other Southeast Asian markets.
