DESCRIPTION

Mint is a Hong Kong-based interior design and fit out firm operating through its wholly-owned subsidiary, Matter Interiors. Founded in 2018, Mint serves commercial and residential clients, with commercial projects — offices, retail stores, and restaurants — making up the majority of revenue. Mint offers two services: design only, where in-house designers produce layout plans, material specifications, and 3D renderings; and design and fit out, where Mint also manages the full construction process by coordinating subcontractors through completion. The latter accounts for most projects. Mint charges a fixed lump-sum fee per project, structured with an upfront deposit, milestone-based interim payments, and a final payment upon completion. Mint outsources all physical construction to subcontractors, keeping its permanent headcount small at 16 full-time employees. Profitability depends on project volume and size, the margin between client fees and subcontractor costs, and the efficiency of Mint's project management team. Mint's client base is small and concentrated — roughly 33-34 customers per year — with the top five clients accounting for roughly 57-63% of revenue, making revenue lumpy. New business comes primarily through repeat clients and referrals. Mint raised approximately $8M in gross proceeds from its January 2025 Nasdaq IPO, which it plans to deploy toward geographic expansion into New York and London, M&A of other interior design firms, team growth, and technology upgrades including a client portal and VR visualization tools.
