DESCRIPTION

ScanTech AI makes CT security scanners for detecting explosives, weapons, narcotics, and contraband at security checkpoints. The company's sole product is the SENTINEL scanner, a fixed-gantry CT system that produces 3D images of bags and parcels to identify threats. The SENTINEL is designed primarily for airport carry-on baggage screening but ScanTech also targets border crossings, government buildings, power plants, stadiums, and other high-traffic venues. Customers are primarily government agencies and airport operators, and ScanTech sells both directly and through distribution partners, with a focus on building regional distribution relationships for international markets. All manufacturing, assembly, and testing takes place at ScanTech's facility in Buford, Georgia, with roughly 15 full-time employees. The central challenge for ScanTech is regulatory certification. Without TSA APSS 6.2 and ECAC EDSCB certification, ScanTech cannot sell into U.S. or European aviation markets. ScanTech has completed data collection for both certifications and is refining its detection algorithms, but has not yet taken or passed either final certification test — and explicitly acknowledges it may never obtain them. ScanTech does hold the older TSA Tier 2 certification, which is accepted in some international markets. ScanTech's growth strategy centers on obtaining these certifications to unlock the aviation market, while also pursuing non-aviation infrastructure deployments and air cargo screening qualification, which do not require TSA or ECAC aviation certification.
