NuvOx is a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company developing NanO2, which delivers oxygen to hypoxic tissues. The drug is an intravenous emulsion of nano-sized droplets that convert to gas at body temperature to facilitate oxygen transfer. NuvOx targets diseases where hypoxia drives morbidity, including glioblastoma multiforme (GBM), acute ischemic stroke, and acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS). In GBM, NanO2 acts as a radiation sensitizer to enhance chemoradiation. For stroke, it sustains brain tissue oxygenation until blood flow returns. In ARDS, NanO2 supplements blood oxygenation when lungs fail. NuvOx is a pre-revenue company funded by private capital and grants from the NIH, DoD, and BARDA. The strategy focuses on advancing NanO2 through clinical trials toward FDA approval. Its most advanced program is a Phase IIb GBM trial with a data readout expected by the end of 2026. NuvOx also supports a Phase IIb stroke trial and a Phase Ib ARDS trial. Upon approval, NuvOx plans to commercialize NanO2 through partners or a specialty sales force. The company currently manufactures NanO2 in-house but will transition to a contract manufacturer before any regulatory submission.
