Toppoint is a small drayage trucking company focused on the recycling export supply chain in the mid-Atlantic U.S. The core business is hauling recyclable materials — primarily waste paper — from recycling centers and commodity traders to the ports of Newark, NJ and Philadelphia, PA, where materials are loaded onto container ships for export. Customers include large waste management companies, recycling centers, and commodity traders. Toppoint operates an asset-light model, relying on a pool of roughly 100 independent contractor owner-operators who own and maintain their own trucks and bear fuel and repair costs. Toppoint provides the loads, handles DOT compliance, and pays owner-operators within 7 days of delivery. Revenue is earned on a per-load basis, driven by the number of loads completed and the rate per load. Waste paper is the dominant commodity, supplemented by scrap metal and wood logs. Toppoint also runs a smaller import drayage segment and a logistics brokerage business for loads it cannot handle directly. The company has grown from 10 clients in 2016 to over 200 by 2025. Growth initiatives include geographic expansion into Florida, Maryland, Houston, and eventually Latin America, growing import drayage volumes, launching cold-chain logistics, and adding warehousing capabilities. Toppoint completed an IPO on NYSE American in January 2025, and operates with just 3 full-time employees alongside its contractor driver network.
