DESCRIPTION

MAC Copper is an Australian copper mining company with a single asset: the CSA Copper Mine near Cobar in western New South Wales, which has been operating since 1967. The mine is a deep underground mechanized operation, extracting ore from steeply dipping ore bodies at depths between 1,500 and 1,900 meters. Ore is processed on-site into copper concentrate, with silver as a byproduct, and exported via rail to the ports of Newcastle or Port Kembla. MAC Copper sells 100% of its copper concentrate to GIAG, a Glencore entity, under a life-of-mine offtake agreement at broadly spot pricing. Revenue is driven by copper production volumes and the prevailing copper price. The CSA mine operates at roughly 4% copper head grade, which is exceptionally high by global standards, and helps keep unit costs low. Roughly 65-70% of the cost base is fixed, so increasing ore throughput is the key lever to drive unit costs lower. MAC Copper's near-term growth strategy centers on filling underutilized mill capacity: the back end is rated at 80,000 tonnes of copper per year, against current production of around 41,000-45,000 tonnes. A ~A$42M ventilation project, targeted for completion in Q3 2026, is the primary enabler to push throughput higher. Additional growth comes from QTS South Upper, a high-grade ore body expected to contribute first stoping ore in Q4 2025, and the Upper Mine, which includes a zinc deposit and additional copper resources. Since acquiring the mine in June 2023 with a leveraged capital structure, MAC Copper has aggressively reduced debt, and management has indicated shareholder returns and organic growth investment are the next capital allocation priorities.
