DESCRIPTION

Brookfield Asset Management (BAM) is a global alternative asset manager with over $1 trillion in AUM across infrastructure, renewable power and energy transition, private equity, real estate, and credit. BAM raises capital from institutional clients — pension funds, sovereign wealth funds, insurance companies, endowments — as well as a growing base of roughly 60,000 private wealth investors. Capital is raised through flagship closed-end funds, perpetual and evergreen vehicles, and separately managed accounts. BAM's pitch to investors is access to large-scale, hard-to-replicate real assets that generate stable, inflation-linked cash flows. BAM argues its operating heritage as an owner-operator of assets, rather than a pure financial investor, differentiates its underwriting and value creation. BAM earns primarily through base management fees on its $603B of Fee-Bearing Capital (FBC), with 87% of that capital long-dated or perpetual, providing a stable, predictable revenue base. As funds mature and deliver returns above hurdle rates, BAM also earns carried interest, which BAM characterizes as a meaningful future earnings driver. BAM also manages capital for Brookfield Wealth Solutions, Brookfield's insurance and annuity platform, which contributes over $100B of FBC. BAM's growth strategy centers on expanding its suite of investment strategies (fundraising across roughly 60 strategies today), scaling into private wealth and insurance channels, and building out AI infrastructure as a dedicated investment theme through a new fund anchored by a partnership with NVIDIA and the Kuwait Investment Authority.
