DESCRIPTION

Robo.ai (formerly NWTN) is a Dubai-based company attempting to develop and sell EVs and autonomous mobility solutions, primarily targeting the Middle East and GCC markets. Its historical revenue came from assembling and selling roughly 889 Rabdan-branded SUVs and MPVs under a semi-knocked down assembly model — sourcing parts from China and assembling them in the UAE — but this product line is being wound down after UAE authorities directed the company to stop using the Rabdan brand in 2024. The company's forward-looking product portfolio consists of vehicles still in development: MUSE, a full-sized passenger-focused SPV with AI-powered in-cabin features; GHIATH, a purpose-built police vehicle developed with Dubai Police; and Astra, a planned autonomous logistics vehicle targeting B2B smart city use cases. Robo.ai plans to use an asset-light manufacturing model, partnering with contract manufacturers rather than building its own factories. It also plans to monetize an in-vehicle AI platform through subscriptions and app partnerships. Since mid-2025, the company has been repositioning itself more broadly as an "AI-powered intelligent asset platform" spanning EVs, robotics, eVTOL aircraft, and data infrastructure. Most of its strategic initiatives — including several joint ventures, a Pakistan market entry, and pending acquisitions — remain unformalized. R&D spending has declined sharply in recent years, and the company is heavily reliant on external funding through convertible note and equity purchase facilities to sustain operations.
