DESCRIPTION

Deep Isolation develops deep borehole disposal technology for the permanent storage of nuclear waste. Deep Isolation uses directional drilling techniques to deposit waste canisters in stable geological formations more than one kilometer underground. Deep Isolation's primary product is the Universal Canister System, a patented family of canisters developed with NAC International and designed for the transportation, interim storage, and permanent disposal of waste without repackaging. Deep Isolation targets governments and state-run utilities as primary customers. The business model consists of long-term implementation contracts, early-stage consulting services, and technology licensing. While Deep Isolation has not yet signed an implementation contract, Deep Isolation generates revenue through advisory services and a wholly owned subsidiary, Freestone Environmental Services. Freestone provides environmental and water resources consulting to federal, state, and private clients, helping to fund the research and development of Deep Isolation. Deep Isolation's growth strategy focuses on completing a full-scale, non-radioactive demonstration of the technology to drive commercial adoption. Deep Isolation maintains an international sales pipeline and has secured multiple government grants to support technology development. Deep Isolation argues the borehole solution is safer, faster to deploy, and more cost-effective than traditional mined repositories.
