DESCRIPTION

Amprius develops and sells high-performance lithium-ion batteries using silicon anodes instead of conventional graphite anodes, delivering roughly twice the energy density of standard cells. The company sells two product lines: SiCore, its current commercial product using a proprietary nanostructured silicon anode that works on standard manufacturing equipment and achieves up to 450 Wh/kg; and SiMaxx, the original 100% silicon nanowire platform capable of over 500 Wh/kg but harder to manufacture and now generating essentially no revenue as customers have migrated to SiCore. Aviation — primarily UAVs and drones — accounts for roughly 75% of revenue, with light electric vehicles making up most of the rest. Key customers include AALTO Airbus, AeroVironment, BAE Systems, and the U.S. Army. Amprius sells directly to drone OEMs, defense contractors, and LEV manufacturers globally, with roughly 75% of revenue coming from outside the U.S. Amprius uses a capital-light model, outsourcing virtually all volume production to contract manufacturers in South Korea and the U.S. while maintaining a small pilot line in Fremont, CA for prototyping and design-ins. The contracted manufacturing network provides over 2.0 GWh of annual SiCore capacity. Amprius is also positioning NDAA compliance — having qualified all cell components from non-Chinese suppliers ahead of the 2028 deadline — as a competitive advantage for U.S. defense customers.
