DESCRIPTION

MultiMetaVerse (MMV) is a Chinese animation and entertainment company built around its flagship IP, Aotu World — a 3D animated series launched in 2015 that follows characters competing in a fantasy tournament universe. The Aotu World brand has accumulated roughly 1.05 billion views on Bilibili and is aimed at Generation Z audiences in China. MMV's core strategy is to build proprietary IP and monetize it across four interconnected business lines: animation content, mobile games, merchandise, and third-party animation production services. On the content side, MMV licenses broadcast rights to platforms like Bilibili, which holds exclusive mainland China rights. On the games side, MMV develops free-to-play mobile games based on its IP, generating revenue through in-app purchases of virtual items; the primary title had approximately 13.7 million cumulative registered users as of December 2023. MMV also designs and sells branded merchandise — action figures, plush toys, trading cards, and apparel — through its own Tmall and Taobao storefronts and through distributors, and licenses its IP to third parties for royalty fees. Finally, MMV uses spare production capacity to provide fixed-price animation production services to third-party studios and game developers. A key element of MMV's model is a UGC flywheel, where MMV actively encourages fans to create Aotu World-themed content, growing brand awareness organically. MMV operates almost entirely in China through a VIE structure, with international revenue negligible.
