DESCRIPTION

Omega Therapeutics is a clinical-stage biotech developing a new class of mRNA-based medicines it calls "epigenomic controllers" (ECs). The core idea is that many diseases stem from genes being expressed at the wrong level, and Omega's ECs are designed to modulate gene expression before transcription occurs — without permanently altering DNA. Each EC is an mRNA molecule delivered via a lipid nanoparticle; once inside a cell, the mRNA is translated into a protein that travels to the nucleus and binds to a specific regulatory region, either activating or silencing the target gene. Omega's lead program, OTX-2002, targets c-Myc — an oncogene historically considered "undruggable" — for the treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma, and is currently in a Phase 1/2 trial. A second program, OTX-2101, targets c-Myc in non-small cell lung cancer and is in IND-enabling studies. Omega also has preclinical programs in inflammatory diseases and regenerative medicine. Omega has no approved products and no commercial revenue. Near-term funding comes from equity raises and partnerships, including a research collaboration with Novo Nordisk in cardiometabolic disease. Longer term, Omega aims to either develop and sell its own drugs to healthcare systems or license its platform to larger pharma partners in exchange for upfront payments, milestones, and royalties. Omega relies on third-party CDMOs for manufacturing and does not own production facilities.
