DESCRIPTION

Nauticus Robotics develops and operates autonomous robotic systems for subsea inspection and intervention, primarily serving offshore oil and gas operators in the Gulf of Mexico. The company's flagship product is the Aquanaut, a fully electric, untethered autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) designed to inspect subsea infrastructure like pipelines, platforms, and mooring lines. Unlike conventional tethered ROVs, Aquanaut navigates autonomously at depths up to 3,000 meters without a human pilot or a crewed surface vessel. Nauticus also operates a conventional ROV services business following its March 2025 acquisition of SeaTrepid, which is the company's primary current revenue source. ROV services are seasonal, concentrated in the April–October offshore season in the Gulf of Mexico. A third product, ToolKITT, is a hardware-agnostic autonomy software platform that adds autonomous navigation and station-keeping capabilities to third-party ROVs already in service — management cites gross margins above 80% for this channel. Nauticus also licenses its Olympic Arm electric manipulator through a royalty arrangement with Forum Energy Technologies, and pursues defense R&D through an alliance with Leidos for U.S. military underwater systems. Nauticus generates revenue through day-rate ROV and Aquanaut services, software licensing, manipulator royalties, and defense consulting. The company is capital-intensive and has relied on convertible debt and equity issuances to fund operations, with management targeting cash flow breakeven through fleet expansion, software sales, and international growth in markets including Brazil and the UAE.
