DESCRIPTION

Revium Rx is a pre-clinical stage biopharmaceutical company developing liposomal (lipid nanoparticle) formulations of existing drugs to improve their delivery, efficacy, and safety profiles. Rather than discovering new chemical entities, Revium Rx takes drugs with proven mechanisms but poor pharmacokinetics and re-formulates them using nanoparticle encapsulation to extend circulation time, improve tissue targeting, and enable controlled release. The company licenses its core technology from Yissum, the Hebrew University of Jerusalem's technology transfer company, and its science is rooted in the work of Prof. Yechezkel Barenholz, co-inventor of Doxil, the first FDA-approved nanomedicine. Revium Rx's lead program, Nano-Mupirocin, encapsulates mupirocin — an antibiotic currently limited to topical use — in a PEGylated liposomal formulation for IV treatment of antibiotic-resistant infections including MRSA and VRE. GLP toxicology studies are ongoing, Israeli Ministry of Health approval for a Phase 1 trial has been received, and the trial is targeted to begin in Q3 2026. A second program, Nano-Candesartan, aims to deliver a blood pressure drug into solid tumors to improve chemotherapy penetration, with an initial focus on pancreatic cancer, though this program is subject to a licensing dispute with Yissum. A third, earliest-stage program is a liposomal vaccine platform being evaluated for SARS-CoV-2 and West Nile Virus. Revium Rx has no revenue and funds operations through equity raises and grants. Its business model is to advance candidates through Phase 1/2 trials, then license or partner with larger pharma companies for later-stage development and commercialization.
