DESCRIPTION

Genius Sports is a B2B technology company that connects sports leagues, sportsbooks, and advertisers through official live sports data. Genius holds official data rights agreements with over 400 sports leagues and federations — including the NFL, EPL, and NBA — covering roughly 206,000 events annually, of which about 119,000 are exclusive. Genius collects this data and sells it to over 550 sportsbook brands globally, including FanDuel, DraftKings, and bet365, under long-term contracts structured as revenue shares tied to sportsbook gross gaming revenue or usage-based license fees, with contractual minimums providing a revenue floor. Genius earns roughly 3x more per in-play bet versus a pre-match bet, so the ongoing shift toward in-game betting is a direct revenue tailwind. Beyond data, Genius operates a growing media business that uses its sports data and fan audience intelligence to help brands reach sports fans through its FanHub programmatic ad platform, BetVision watch-and-bet product, and broadcast augmentation. The business is organized into two segments: Betting Technology, Content and Services (~78% of FY25 revenue) and Media Technology, Content and Services (~22%). The cost structure is heavily fixed — major league rights fees are locked through 2029 — which management expects will drive strong operating leverage as revenue scales. Genius is also acquiring Legend, a digital sports and iGaming media network, for up to $1.2B, which management expects will expand Genius's audience platform and add owned media properties with direct, recurring user traffic.
