Cytek Biosciences makes flow cytometers — laboratory instruments that analyze individual cells by detecting fluorescent signals. Cytek's core technology, Full Spectrum Profiling (FSP), captures the full emission spectrum of fluorescent signals across all detectors, allowing its instruments to simultaneously measure up to 50 biomarkers per cell, far more than conventional flow cytometry systems. The flagship product is the Cytek Aurora analyzer, complemented by the Aurora Evo (a high-throughput version targeting pharma and biotech), the Northern Lights (a smaller, more affordable system with a clinical-use version approved in the EU and China), and the Aurora CS cell sorter. Cytek also sells conventional and imaging flow cytometers under the Amnis and Guava brands, acquired from Luminex in 2023. Customers include pharma and biotech companies, academic institutions, CROs, and clinical labs, served through a direct sales force in North America, Europe, China, and parts of Asia-Pacific, and through distributors elsewhere. Cytek's business model combines upfront instrument sales with recurring revenue from service contracts and reagent consumables. Each instrument placed creates a multi-year tail of service and reagent revenue. Reagents — fluorochrome-conjugated antibodies and application-specific kits optimized for FSP systems — represent a large untapped opportunity, as Cytek currently captures less than 10% of reagents consumed on its own installed base. Cytek Cloud, a digital platform for panel design and experiment management, deepens customer stickiness and drives reagent adoption. Recurring revenues represented approximately 32% of trailing revenue as of mid-2025 and are growing faster than instrument sales.
