DESCRIPTION

PRF Technologies is a small, pre-revenue specialty pharma and technology company with two unrelated business lines. The core business develops extended-release drug formulations using a proprietary delivery platform, taking established off-patent drugs and reformulating them for localized, sustained release at surgical sites. The lead candidate is OcuRing-K, developed through majority-owned subsidiary LayerBio. OcuRing-K is a bio-erodible implant that attaches to an intraocular lens during cataract surgery, releasing ketorolac directly into the eye over roughly two weeks post-surgery — replacing the multi-week eye drop regimens that patients currently self-administer after cataract surgery. OcuRing-K has completed Phase I with a clean safety profile and is advancing toward Phase II trials. The company's original candidate, PRF-110, failed its Phase 3 endpoint in late 2024 and has been deprioritized. PRF Technologies uses the FDA's 505(b)(2) pathway, which allows reliance on existing safety data for the underlying drug compounds, reducing development costs. The intended commercialization model is either direct sales to ophthalmologists and surgery centers, or out-licensing to a larger pharma partner. The second business line, DeepSolar, is an AI-powered solar analytics software platform acquired in early 2025. DeepSolar monitors photovoltaic system performance, integrates with existing control systems, and targets both commercial solar operators and residential users. PRF Technologies has no approved products, no meaningful revenue across either segment, and only seven employees.
