Lucid Diagnostics is a cancer prevention diagnostics company with a single core product: the EsoGuard Esophageal DNA Test, used to screen for Barrett's Esophagus, a precancerous condition that can progress to esophageal adenocarcinoma. EsoGuard is performed on cells collected in-office using EsoCheck, a swallowable balloon capsule that a clinician deploys in under two minutes. EsoGuard then runs a DNA methylation assay on the collected cells at Lucid's own CLIA-certified lab, and has demonstrated a 99% negative predictive value in screening settings. The test targets the roughly 30M U.S. GERD sufferers at elevated risk for Barrett's Esophagus, offering a non-invasive, office-based alternative to upper endoscopy. Lucid sells directly to physicians and health systems, and also deploys its own clinical staff to perform EsoCheck collections at physician offices, employer events, and through concierge medicine cash-pay programs. Medicare has established a price of $1,938 per test, but Lucid does not yet have Medicare coverage, which is the central constraint on the business. Without broad reimbursement, Lucid recognizes revenue only on cash collection rather than test delivery, creating a lag between volume and revenue. Lucid's growth strategy is sequentially unlocking reimbursement — first Medicare, then commercial insurers — while using direct contracting and cash-pay channels to generate near-term revenue. Lucid is majority-owned by PAVmed, which provides management services.
