DESCRIPTION

AZEK designs and manufactures engineered outdoor living and home exterior products, sold primarily under the TimberTech and AZEK Exteriors brands. The company's core products are composite and PVC decking, railing, and exterior trim — all positioned as premium, low-maintenance alternatives to wood. The Residential segment is roughly 95% of total net sales, making AZEK essentially a pure-play residential outdoor living company. Within Residential, decking and railing account for about 70% of net sales and exterior trim accounts for the remaining 30%. About 80% of Residential revenue comes from repair and remodel activity rather than new construction, making demand somewhat less cyclical than homebuilding. AZEK sells through roughly 50 distributors who supply more than 10,000 dealers, lumber yards, and home improvement retailers across the U.S. and Canada. Contractors are the key end-user influencer, and AZEK invests heavily in contractor loyalty programs and training. AZEK's growth thesis centers on material conversion — wood still represents roughly 75% of the decking market — combined with channel and shelf space expansion and new product launches. Gross margins benefit from increasing recycled content in products, product reconfiguration, and factory utilization leverage. Key raw material inputs are petrochemical resins and recycled plastics, whose prices fluctuate with oil markets. AZEK also pursues tuck-in acquisitions to expand its product portfolio and recycling capabilities. A small Commercial segment sells bathroom partitions and lockers, but management has flagged it as non-core.
