DESCRIPTION

Aprea Therapeutics is a clinical-stage oncology company with no approved products or revenue. Aprea develops small molecule drugs based on synthetic lethality — a concept where cancer cells carrying a specific genetic mutation can be selectively killed by inhibiting a compensating gene pathway, sparing healthy tissue. Aprea's scientific focus is on the DNA Damage Response (DDR) pathway, which cancer cells rely on to survive the stress of rapid, uncontrolled growth. Aprea's two lead clinical programs are APR-1051, a WEE1 kinase inhibitor in Phase 1 dose escalation targeting cancers with PPP2R1A, FBXW7, or CCNE1 mutations, and ATRN-119, an oral ATR kinase inhibitor that has completed dose escalation and is now pivoting toward combination therapy with radiation, antibody-drug conjugates, and immune checkpoint inhibitors. A third program, APR-1602, a DYRK1A/B inhibitor, is preclinical. Aprea funds operations through equity raises and retains worldwide rights to all programs, with potential future monetization through self-commercialization or licensing to larger pharma companies. With only 8 full-time employees, Aprea relies on contract research organizations and contract manufacturers for clinical and manufacturing operations. Value creation depends entirely on demonstrating clinical differentiation — particularly on safety — and achieving regulatory approval.
