DESCRIPTION

MapLight Therapeutics is a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company developing drugs for CNS disorders. MapLight has no approved products and no product revenue, and funds operations through capital raises. The lead program is ML-007C-MA, a fixed-dose combination tablet pairing an M1/M4 muscarinic receptor agonist (ML-007) with a peripherally acting anticholinergic designed to block peripheral side effects while preserving central brain activity. ML-007C-MA is in Phase 2 trials for schizophrenia (ZEPHYR trial, topline results expected Q3 2026) and Alzheimer's disease psychosis (VISTA trial, topline results expected second half of 2027). The second clinical program, ML-004, is a reformulation of zolmitriptan being developed for social communication deficits and irritability in autism spectrum disorder, with Phase 2 topline results also expected Q3 2026. MapLight retains global rights to all programs and intends to build its own U.S. commercial infrastructure if it achieves regulatory approval, potentially pursuing partnerships outside the U.S. The company's discovery platform combines optogenetics, single-cell transcriptomics, and spatial transcriptomics to identify neural circuits linked to disease and find drug targets within those circuits — an approach MapLight argues improves target validation and the probability of developing drugs with the right specificity, efficacy, and safety profile. Three preclinical programs round out the pipeline, including a next-generation muscarinic agonist and candidates targeting Parkinson's disease motor deficits and CNS hyperactivity.
