DESCRIPTION

Arcturus Therapeutics is a clinical-stage biotech developing mRNA medicines, with two core therapeutic programs targeting rare genetic diseases and a partnered vaccine franchise. Its lead rare disease programs are ARCT-032, an inhaled mRNA therapy for cystic fibrosis (CF), and ARCT-810, an IV-administered mRNA therapy for OTC deficiency, a rare liver enzyme disorder. Both deliver functional mRNA to target cells to restore protein function — ARCT-032 targets CF patients who cannot benefit from existing CFTR modulator drugs, and ARCT-810 targets OTC deficiency patients who otherwise have no treatment option beyond liver transplant. Both programs are in Phase 2. Arcturus also developed KOSTAIVE, the first approved self-amplifying mRNA (sa-mRNA) vaccine for COVID-19, approved in Japan, the EU, and the UK, and commercialized through a partnership with CSL Seqirus. Arcturus' two core platform technologies — LUNAR, a proprietary lipid nanoparticle delivery system, and STARR, its sa-mRNA amplification technology — underpin all of its programs. Arcturus generates revenue primarily through its collaboration with CSL Seqirus, which includes upfront payments, milestone payments, and profit-sharing on COVID-19 sales. The rare disease programs have not yet generated product revenue. Arcturus retains worldwide rights to both rare disease programs and is working toward pivotal trials for each, funded in part by grants from the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and BARDA.
