DESCRIPTION

SNDL is a Canadian multi-segment company operating across liquor retail, cannabis retail, cannabis production, and financial investments. Liquor retail is the largest segment, where SNDL operates private liquor stores in Alberta, British Columbia, and Saskatchewan under three banners: Liquor Depot and Ace Liquor (convenience-format stores carrying 1,000–4,000 SKUs) and Wine and Beyond (large-format destination stores with over 10,000 SKUs). Alberta is SNDL's primary liquor market, as it was the first Canadian province to fully privatize liquor retail. In cannabis retail, SNDL operates corporate-owned and franchised stores across five provinces under the value-focused Value Buds banner and the premium Spiritleaf banner. SNDL also cultivates, manufactures, and distributes cannabis products domestically to provincial boards and internationally, primarily to Europe. A fourth segment, Investments, deploys capital into cannabis-related debt and equity through SunStream, a 50/50 joint venture focused on cannabis lending, with meaningful U.S. exposure. Liquor retail margins are driven by promotional buying, private label, and store format mix, while cannabis retail margins benefit from same-store sales growth and a data licensing revenue stream. SNDL's growth strategy centers on organic retail expansion, M&A-driven consolidation of undercapitalized cannabis retailers, and ramping international cannabis exports. SNDL carries no debt and holds over $250M in unrestricted cash, which management views as a key advantage for pursuing acquisitions.
