DESCRIPTION

Reviva Pharmaceuticals is a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company with no approved products or revenue, focused entirely on developing its lead drug candidate, brilaroxazine (RP5063), for schizophrenia and other conditions. Brilaroxazine is a novel compound that modulates serotonin and dopamine receptors, designed to treat both the positive symptoms (psychosis) and negative symptoms (social withdrawal, cognitive impairment) of schizophrenia, while avoiding the metabolic and cardiovascular side effects common with existing antipsychotics. Brilaroxazine has completed a two-part Phase 3 trial (RECOVER-1) with positive results, but the FDA has encouraged Reviva to run a second Phase 3 trial before filing for approval. Reviva plans to initiate that trial (RECOVER-2) in mid-2026, with completion expected in late 2027, pushing any potential commercialization well beyond 2027. Beyond schizophrenia, Reviva is exploring brilaroxazine for bipolar disorder, depression, ADHD, and two pulmonary conditions with FDA Orphan Drug Designation, though all of these are contingent on additional financing. The company's second asset, RP1208, is a preclinical-stage compound for depression and obesity. Reviva funds operations entirely through equity raises, employs 14 people, and relies on CROs and third-party manufacturers. If brilaroxazine reaches approval, Reviva would generate revenue through pharmaceutical product sales, either independently or via a partnership with a larger pharma company.
